In Greene County district court Megan Rose Wright, 29, of Jefferson was sentenced May 22 to 25 years in prison on each of two counts of distribution of controlled substance to a person under age 18, and to five years in prison on each of two counts of intent to deliver less than 50 kg of marijuana. The prison terms are concurrent. All four were suspended and she was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for 2-5 years. She must complete any recommended substance abuse and/or mental health treatment. She was fined $1,025 with a $153.50 surcharge on each of the marijuana charges; the fines and surcharges were suspended. Charges of ongoing criminal conduct, one count of distribution of controlled substance to person under age 18, controlled substance violation, failure to affix tax stamp, and two counts of child endangerment were dismissed. Court costs are to be determined. A charge agsint Wright in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. A judgment for a $95.50 surcharge was dismissed in that case. Kayleigh Christine Harrah, 26, of Grand Junction pleaded not guilty May 16 to a charge of perjury. A trial date was set for July 18.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Joseph J. Ratliff, 41, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Mitchell Kenneth Venteicher, 38, of Jefferson, driving while license barred (two separate cases); and Wayne Eugene Royer, 42, of Scranton, driving while license revoked.
